I came across an article on tumblr and I'd like to give it a post here.

Here's my question; what about all the people who have these ideas but can't draw worth a damn? You're obviously not going to check them out because their artistic ability doesn't meet that of your mental standard. Admit it, we're all guilty of it. Because I have little artistic ability, my original content(or my fanart for that matter) has NEVER attracted attention to it. Even when trying to bring it up in conversations with people, they don't care.

Unless you can draw like a GOD then it doesn't make a difference whether you draw original content or fanart.

And don't give me that "Oh, you don't collect/draw/fap to/believe/disbelieve/like/hate X, so you are not an artist" bullshit. An artist is someone who is emotionally driven to the point where they want to create. It doesn't matter WHAT that is, it's the fact that you are emotionally invested in it.

"Junk" or "waste" are the things created with no emotional investment from the creator.  End of story.

Do you create? Are you emotionally attatched to what you create? Yes? Then congratulations, you're an artist.
